Google Chrome, more than just a browser
As posted yesterday, Google Android has been making a run at netbooks. But apparently Google realized that while Android does great on mobile phones, they needed something a little more revolutionary for netbooks, notebooks and desktops. Well in comes Chrome OS. That is correct, Google is attacking the operating system even faster than I thought they would. They are working with a plethora of manufacturers and chipmakers including Acer, Adobe, Asus, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments. So once again we step back and try to imagine the big picture and not just the immediate actions. Once upon a time there was a company who did not like living in a dark box (DOS) and decided to open a few Windows. Then once people started enjoying the view, people wanted to complain that there was not enough choices when it came to the view. Because Office and IE were standard, there was no reason to again look outside the box. Well now that there has been some reconstruction, and the offending products have been separated, and more choices have been given….history has a chance to repeat itself. Will Chrome come complete with Google Apps preloaded? Will it even be an issue since all of it is open source software? We only know one thing for certain… having a computer will be more about having choices than ever before.
